Tax Manager - State & Local
The Tax Manager is responsible for organizing, coordinating and reviewing data for accurate and timely completion of state and local tax projects. This position involves managing the workflow of Tax Associates and serving as a key member of the Tax department. The Tax Manager is responsible for providing advisory services to our clients and building and managing successful firm and client relationships.
Coordinate and manage a wide range of state and local tax planning, consulting, and compliance services for clients.
Perform advanced level tax research projects and compose comprehensive memoranda.
Apply functional knowledge to understand potential tax issues and participate in tax planning.
Deliver high quality tax service and advice when contacting and advising clients.
Manage, mentor and train Tax Associates and Senior Tax Associates.
Serve as a subject matter expert for the firm’s state and local tax services.
Work as part of a team as well as independently.
Act as project manager for special projects at the request of the leadership team.
Develop and edit correspondence, memoranda, and other client deliverables as needed.
Participate in networking and business development activities on behalf of the firm.
Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
Master of Laws degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of tax and client consulting experience.
CPA certification required.
CMI certification in State and Local Income Tax preferred.
Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, proficient with other Microsoft Office applications.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Strong research and oral and written communication skills to articulate complex information.
Ability to lead multiple engagements and train team members.
Ability to consistently exercise good judgment.
Proficient with tax workflow and research software.
